I can do better. My business can do better.

Whilst I’m not proud that it’s taken a global movement for me to realise it, this^ is what that looks like.

I’ve seen a few conversations going around (by fellow white business owners) about returning to ‘normal’ after the events of last week. People, last week was the START. We don’t return to normal. We create a new normal.

Our black squares or insta story roundups of resources are irrelevant if not followed up with action. Daily, uncomfortable, unseen action.

Refuse sponsorship from brands who aren’t anti-racist. Give up your seat on a panel if your perspective is already represented. Help others up a ladder which your privilege has removed.

If returning to normal means accepting the lack of diversity and inclusion in the small business space then that’s not a normal I’m interested in. White business owners - it’s time we put in the work. You with me?

EDIT - Don’t praise me for taking long overdue action which should be the standard. I’m sharing this so 1) I’m held accountable and 2) those of you who are unsure on how to play your part can take inspiration.
