Don't let social media make you lose confidence in your business
In a world obsessed with looking for validation and affirmation via social media it’s no surprise we start doing it with our businesses.
We question our future success... we doubt our ability to reach our goals... we wonder if we’re doing it right... and what do we do? We look for evidence (either to affirm or counter it) via how many likes our recent post got.
And either way, it doesn’t work. Why? Because no amount of ‘engagement’ is going to build your trust with your business.
Building trust with your business is fundamental and I believe it primarily comes down to 2 things...
✔️The right foundations - clarity around where you’re heading and how you’re going to get there will support you in trusting, even if you don’t have the ‘result’ yet, that you’re taking the right action. This is KEY, especially in the early days or during a pivot when there’s little evidence or feedback to guide your decisions!
✔️Time / LEGIT evidence - as you begin to take action, any evidence of your definition of success being met is only going to back up what’s in your foundations and encourage you to keep at it. I keep a folder of happy emails / screenshots for this exact reason!
We all have moments of doubting our businesses and it isn’t something to beat yourself up for. What’s important is to do what helps you walk through that feeling. If this is resonating, take some time to check back in with your foundations (aka the outline of what your business is, where’s its heading and the rough steps to get you there) and see what useful evidence (aka not Instagram likes) you can remind yourself of.
I’ll be sharing more about foundations over the next couple weeks so lean in for that if yours are feeling ready for a refresh or non-existent!
I’m interested, is this something you experience? To keep it honest I’m finding it particularly challenging right now so this post is just as much for me as it is for you👏🏻
