Starting from the bottom to building a sustainable business

All this #startedfromthebottom chat has got me thinking about when my business was in a rut.

And when I say rut, I mean V close to not continuing. I was 7 months into my pivot to coaching and yet to see much traction come my way. It was the closest I’ve ever got to giving up and was captured through this beautiful (sense the sarcasm) photo^.

It’s easy to look back now and use it as a handy narrative but I still remember how isolated and hopeless that season felt. The messages I’ve received tell me some of you may also in that place so if so, here’s what I’d tell the me of this picture…

✖️Give yourself permission to define a big picture which is true to you, not a copy of someone else’s business
✖️Once you’ve got that^ take action in line with it - consistent (and often uncomfortable) action is the only ‘secret’ to success so keep taking the next step
✖️Do some work for free - it’ll build your confidence/skills and get you out there (just make sure you do it in a structured way!)
✖️See other peoples success as evidence that it’s possible, instead of evidence that there’s no space for you

And finally, be consistent. I know it’s hard to trust something that you can’t yet see but as someone on the other side, I’m so grateful my past self had a cry, dug deep and kept at it.
